WORKING BEE, THIS WEEKEND, AT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

The (once-was) Sacred-Heart Catholic Church is getting
A MAKE OVER!!
this weekend!!!

Is this where the Free Lunch is being held???

  A WORKING BEE

is being held this weekend

Saturday and Sunday

2nd and 3rd March 2013

WORKER BEES REQUIRED

There will be lots to do...
There will be cleaning and painting. It could be a chance to have some fun, share and learn some skills, as well as contribute to what will, hopefully, become a beautiful community space...

I heard Suela's going to make Moussaka and Kim's doing Lasagne?
Genevieve's doing the biscuits apparently...! Have you seen her blog? It's fabulous!
What time, anybody know????

The Working Bee is scheduled to commence around 10.30 am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday.

PAINTING AND CLEANING GEAR IS BEING SUPPLIED

The later start on Saturday is to allow people to attend Yoga at 8.30 am and the Farmer's Market AFTER 10am.

Is this the kitchen?
Where's the bar?
I heard the Advocate and the Guardian are coming...
Really? Let's get around the front then, this isn't my best side

Is this the view we'll be looking over as we tuck into these plates of steaming nosh?
It's much prettier than that. This photographer's lousy.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!!!

A meeting is being held in the Hall this Thursday,

28th February 2013

6pm-7pm

to discuss ways to realise this wondrous possibility.

What a great place for a wedding. Or a wake! And everything in between.

THEN

it's over to the SCOOL

for a community BBQ!!!!!

All Welcome.

Be there or be square!

Oh, by the way, I believe some kind of lunch could/might be provided over the weekend.
Maybe.
So I hear.

Oh and yes... very important,
The Church is a National Parks managed building.

Apologies for the photos. I'll happily exchange for better and give credit.
Will also fulfil any copyright requirements for NPWS. Send me a Lyre Bird!

Coming soon...

  • Yoga  news...
  • Gardeners of Hill End-Tambaroora
    • First cab off the rank... The Vegetable Growers.

THE INAUGURAL HILL END-TAMBAROORA FARMER'S MARKET!

We piled out of yoga on Saturday to find the bench outside the hall transformed into a cornucopia of FRESH produce.

It was a veritable feeding frenzy!

True story!

Our dilapidated bench gets a VEGETABLE makeover
That's Rebecca on the left and Kim Deacon on the right!

Rebecca Thompson must have been up with the owls to have picked, bundled, banded, and packed all the goodness she had to sell.

The perfume of the Basil made us swoon!

She had
Carrots, the size of fingers, bunched, into crisp fists.
Bouquets of the sweetest Basil.
A basket of Snow Peas, crisp green bombs,
full of pop and flavour.
Jumbles of Zucchini and Cucumber that were
frankly
of erotic proportions!
Jars of Apricot and Plum preserve, prettily labelled and presented...

This abundance comes via her, her husband Dave Thompson (Thommo) and the vegetable patch itself (which I intend to do a story on soon).

These babies went so quickly... I had to make do snapping the basket half-full...

There is an idea, among some people, that organic produce is pitted, gnawed, nibbled, bruised and over-priced

Not so here.

Rebecca and Dave's produce is so pretty.

Clearly the garden relies on the cycle of life!

The garden is a place where all things come to find their place and do their job!

 And the prices are great!

Just as important was the feeling of community and excitement created by Rebecca's foray into the world of Village commerce.

What will be there next Saturday???
Tomatoes? Potatoes? Corn? Peach Jam??
Bec is thinking of sending out an email on Fridays listing what she has available.

Swing by AFTER 10am to check it out...
(Please don't disturb the yoga class...)

Is it true what they say?

"FROM LITTLE THINGS BIG THINGS GROW!"

Many thanks Rebecca and Dave.

Hmmm. Maybe I could flog off a few jars of my lemon-curd!
Might pay for that dress I'm lusting after...
